My visit was entirely up to my expectations, which, of course, were high, since Marilyn Stokstad sets the standard here. I never expect to see such a display anywhere of the work of Aaron douglas as here. Excellent indeed
Many thanks, Jim Welsh

Astounding. what was not said in technical skill is made up for in movement, silohete and imagery. Visually engaging, thrilling, resoundingly masterful. the use of soft tones lessens the harshness that can sometimes be overstated through color.

Congratulations, Spencer Museum of Art staff! The exhibition is incredible. The conference was beautifully conceived, well executed, and stimulating -- I enjoyed every aspect. And thank you for making it so accessible to the general public. Cindy Sears, Lawrence

The project is wonderful, and thank you, but where are the young African American Artists working on the project?
Has nothing changed.

Aaron Douglas and many other Kansas-raised African Americans have had such a profound influence on American culture. We are lucky to have the debut of this important exhibit in Lawrence. --Susan Tarm
